The Grain Angle Sensor provides a very accurate profile of the direction of grain travel, both on the surface and into the board. Measuring slope-of-grain is the most obvious benefit from using this device, although knowing the fiber direction as it also travels into the board provides an opportunity to further analyze the grain direction’s impact on strength or other specific use requirements. A mere 3 inches thick and 16 inches wide, it takes up very little space and is just one of five different kinds of sensors used by Lucidyne's GradeScan^® system.
