Proven Automated Lumber Grading Systems |

Today's lumber manufacturer is required to process an ever-increasing variety of lumber products while still trying to operate more efficiently. Lucidyne offers several options to customize your GMR for your specific application. If you don't see what you need listed below, call us today to discuss your needs! Storyboard Display Lucidyne's GMR Storyboard presents current production information for all mill personnel to see at a glance. The system is operated by the GMR and shows what is happening now at your trimmer/sorter. Typical operation cycles through production board footage, percent on-grade, percent lugs filled, and several other selectable items. You can even add your own messages! Both single color and multiple color displays are available. Width Measurement Usually required in sawmill applications, width measurement is important when the GMR is presented with random width boards and it is required to provide reports. Lucidyne's GMR typically uses a photoeye and encoder combination to measure the width of each board. This information is used in combination with the board's length, grade, and trim information to provide complete tally information. Thickness Measurement When boards are presented to the GMR and vary in thickness and reports are required, thickness must be measured. This is also necessary when using our "Trim Saver" feature with random thickness boards. Depending on the application, thickness is measured using a standard thickness shoe with discrete or encoder inputs, proximity photoeyes, or differential laser thickness. Thickness can also be received as a discrete signal from a PLC or other control system. This data can then be used to generate accurate tally information. Supplier Data Base Typically used in hardwood lumber operations, this option provides a way to accurately track the source of lumber run through your GMR. The simplest application involves doing a grade tally of purchased lumber. The supplier name is entered at the GMR personal computer, and the subsequent lumber is tallied by grade (and dimension if required) to that supplier. More complex applications also include resulting trim information, resulting in an accurate accounting of what you were able to get out of each load of lumber - by supplier! Graphical Grader Display Knowing how your graders compare at a glance is a valuable management tool. Lucidyne's GGD presents color graphs of grader performance with real-time charts of their personal $/1000, percentage of each grade, reject rate, trim loss, and others. Alarms can be triggered by specific events, such as excessive trim loss or reject rate. This powerful tool helps align actual production metrics with individual graders so you can bring everyone up to their highest possible performance level. Lumber Tally System Lucidyne has developed custom applications for hardwood operations where production tallies are ordinarily done by hand and packages manually created. The resultant process eliminates tally errors and automates the production of lumber packages. Solutions can include package ticket printing, inventory interface, machine lumber sorting, and supplier tracking (see Supplier Data Base). Expanded Reports When the extensive reports provided by Lucidyne's standard system aren't enough or they aren't configured just right for your mill, they can be customized for you. These extra touches are what have made Lucidyne stand out from the rest. Remote Reports If you don't have the time to go out to the computer room where the Grade Mark Reader controls are to get the daily reports, Lucidyne can send them to your office for you! Our remote reports option allows you to collect the reports at your office computer and review them, and/or make a hard copy on your own printer. |
